Beware of Bannon

On Saturday, while Americans across the country were focused on Trump's travel ban, DT quietly signed yet another in a long list of executive orders. And I do not believe it was coincidental that he waited until America was caught up in the backlash against the immigration ban to enact it: I believe it was intentionally signed then so we would not focus on the contents of the order.

The order gave Steve Bannon, one of Trump's top advisers, "a full seat on the “principals committee” of the National Security Council — while downgrading the roles of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the director of national intelligence, who will now attend only when the council is considering issues in their direct areas of responsibilities. It is a startling elevation of a political adviser, to a status alongside the secretaries of state and defense, and over the president’s top military and intelligence advisers." (Please note that Steve Bannon is a former executive chairman for Breitbart News and, during his tenure, its online newspaper printed anti-muslim, misogynistic, anti-semitic, racist, and anti-LGBTQIA articles.)

Bannon was one of the "masterminds" behind the immigration ban and, regardless of where you stand on this issue, no one can deny that the ban was poorly implemented. In fact, the order was signed while John Kelly, the homeland security director, was being still being briefed on it. Not only had his department not been given an opportunity to give a legal opinion on the order, he was given little to no direction on how his employees were to implement it--yet Trump signed it anyway! And Bannon obviously did nothing to stop Trump from signing it before the order was properly vetted.

So here is the million dollar question: Is Bannon really that incompetent, or is he trying to create dissension and instability (e.g., shock events) within the country for the perceived benefit of the Trump administration? I could list a variety of reasons to support the latter option, but, regardless of the answer, it's terrifying that a man who is incompetent and/or purposely creating instability now has a permanent seat on the principals committee of the NSC. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!
