Preface: It has been several years since I have blogged, but the presidency of Donald Trump has convinced me that it is time to start writing again.
THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!! DAY 1:
The worst thing a person can do is normalize and support the bizarre actions and lies of a narcissist, and that is exactly what Trump's Enablers are doing right now. I have watched as narcissists have destroyed families and lives, and I will be damned if I am going to stay silent while Trump spews out his manufactured reality and, simultaneously, takes the country down with him. So this post begins Day 1 in my personal "THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!!" series. (I must use all caps and lots of exclamation points because Trump seems to think they work.)
1) DT spoke at the CIA HQ today. He proceeded to produce a disjointed, stream-of-consciousness diatribe that included statements about his campaign, his transition, his cabinet appointments, how smart he is, how smart his uncle was, the "lying media", God stopping the rain that was beginning to fall on him at the inauguration, taking Iraqi oil, and how there were at least a million people at his inauguration--and that they were lined all the way back to the Washington Monument. He then proceeded to tell the people there that the media created the story about him disliking the intelligence community, despite his numerous statements and tweets that made his disdain and distrust of them very clear. I mean, not too long ago he equated the IC with Nazi Germany. Really, DT? Really? #Thisisnotnormal
2) Sean Spicer, DT's Press Secretary/Enabler Extraordinaire, conducted his very first White House "briefing", yet it was really just a bizarre attack on the press that proved that Trump has successfully pulled SS into his alternate universe. There were no questions taken afterwards, which is atypical of a press briefing and is concerning. But what was even more concerning is that Spicer tried to convince us that "this was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration--period"--when all observable facts indicate otherwise. #Thisisnotnormal
3) Donald Trump won the presidency. This is the 1st full day of his presidency. Instead of working towards uniting our country and addressing issues that are concerning to Americans, he is focused on the number of people who showed up at his inauguration. This is additional proof that he cares much more about his own image than he does about actually doing the work of the American people. #Thisisnotnormal
While it may seem easier to just ignore Donald Trump's disturbing behaviors, we cannot become complacent and we cannot allow ourselves to be gaslighted into believing the statements and actions of Trump and his Enablers are normal. #THISISNOTNORMAL
